Restaurant Week in NYC - db moderne bistro

We were in NY during Restaurant Week. New York has it twice a year in Jan/Feb and June/July. It features $24.07 three-course lunch or $35 three-course dinner. We reckon this was a good opportunity to try out restaurant that maybe out of our budget. We made our reservation through OpenTable.com, or there's an option to call the restaurant directly for booking. OpenTable is the easier way to go, it shows the participating restaurant for Restarant Week and if the offer is for lunch / dinner. It also shows the available time slot for the particular day you pick. Plus you get to collect points toward dining cheque which can be used at any OpenTable restaurant nationwide.

The first restaurant we tried was db bistro moderne by Daniel Boulud. We ordered 2-set of the special menu for Restaurant Week. There were a couple more options on the menu which I don't remember.

Dinner started off with Assortment of Bread and Viennoiserie artisanal Alsatian confitures.

Then, the first 3-course meal were served....
Chilled green pea soup
Grilled Flank Steak with Corn, Glazed baby carrots, Mushrooms
Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream
The second 3-course meal consists of
Atlantic Salmon with roasted baby beets, watercress, toasted pumpernickel and lemon dressing
Risotto with wild mushrooms, wilted spinach, aged parmesan emulsion
Berry Tartellet, Pink Pepper Sable Breton, Vanilla Diplomat Cream and Lime Sorbet
We paired these with a bottle of red which was relatively cheap for what you can get at a restaurant. There was an offer on the wine list as well for Restaurant week.

Halfway through our meal, the waiter walked past with the db burger. It looked really yummy, I thought to myself, I should have ordered that. I was relatively happy with my meal but the db burger would have made me happier, it came with lots of fries too. Anyway, we'll definitely be back to try the burgers.

Overall experience of the restaurant was food, service and atmosphere was good but not wow! On this trip, we also tried a few other restaurant. We'll be posting review soon. Stay tune.
