Bangkok Hotel Hopping Weekend: Maya Restaurant at Hilton Bangkok

________________________________________________________________________________

Since there weren't many options (at least options we knew about), we decided to eat in at the Hilton during our stay. In hindsight, this turned out to be a good option as it ended up raining heavily and eating in saved us the trouble of getting wet.

The Millennium Hilton has a couple of restaurants  - Chinese, Steakhouse, Thai and international buffet. We decided to have dinner at the Thai restaurant called Maya.

For dinner, they offered a 13 course tapas style Thai menu. Some of the dishes like the shrimp cakes and beef panang were pretty good and were authentic but we didn't enjoy the some of the courses. The tom yum for example was too sour and the fish was dry. As Hilton Honors Gold members, we were even offered a complimentary lemongrass and chilli drink - the drink packed a punch!

The Menu

Pre-Dinner snacks

Crispy sticky rice with minced shrimp & coconut dip
Chicken in pandan leave
Shrimp cakes
Spicy eggplant salad
Salmon "tartare"
Grill beef salad
Orange sherbet
Prawns and noodles
Tom Kha Gai
Sweet & sour fish
Beef Panang
Pineapple fried rice
Dessert
Complimentary spicy lemongrass drink
The service included live performances and show which was pretty entertaining.

We definitely enjoyed ourselves and would recommend the "Maya experience". The service and the show were great although to the food would be better.
