Bangkok Hotel Hopping Weekend: Millennium Hilton Bangkok

________________________________________________________________________________

We stayed at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok for our last night in Bangkok. The taxi ride from the Pullman took about 30 minutes as there was some traffic and the Hilton is located on the "other side" of Chao Phraya River that divides Bangkok.

We were promptly asked if we were Hilton Honor members during check-in and escorted to the some sofas that were used for check-in for Hilton Honor members. We were offered a welcome drink and a much needed cold towel. Without asking, we were told that we were upgraded to an executive room and escorted to our room. There was also a personalized welcome letter from the hotel GM.

The executive room we were upgraded to was definitely smaller than the suite we got in the Vie. However, the view made up for the small size of the room. We loved that the bed was facing the large window that provided a stunning view of the river and Bangkok.

Having already done the Bangkok touristy stuff like the temples which were close by before, there was nothing much to do around the hotel. We spent the rest of the time we head lounging by the pool area which also provided a good view of the river. Love the lounge chairs that are partially in the pool!

As guests on the executive floor, we were entitled to use the lounge. They had complimentary coffee, tea and soft drinks with some light snacks like fruits and crackers through out the day. There was also cocktail hour from 5.30-7.30pm with pretty good wine and alcohol but the food offerings were some what limited with crackers, cheese, fruit and some other light finger food - definitely not enough to make a dinner out of it.

As usual, we prefer to have breakfast in the main restaurant as they usually have more choice. The restaurant was packed and seem to struggle to get guests seated and to replenish the food. Overall, the food was mediocre and we definitely liked the breakfast at the Vie more.

The hotel provides a complimentary boat service to either the Riverside Mall or the Saphan Taksin BTS station which then provides easy access to other parts of Bangkok. For the fun of it, we took the boat right after breakfast.

In summary, we enjoyed our stay in the Hilton. The staff definitely took care of us. We would definitely recommend this hotel for those visiting Bangkok for sight seeing or just to relax due to its location on the river.
